Baby Update Post

It's time to talk about the baby. It may bore you, it may excite you. It may move you to tears (due to either one) but at least it's something new to read, am i right?

First of all: Julian's 9 months old. I know, i know. By the looks of him you'd think he was at least 10... years. This is one gargantuan baby. He may not be the biggest that's come to existence but judging by other people's miniature children, he's a beef.

Excellent man boobs. Gotta love 'em.

Time for the baby stats:

Height: 29 inches long. 80+ percentile. Not bad, baby. not bad.
Weight: 22 pounds. Also 80+ percentile. So one would think, ok, you're nice and proportionate. WRONG.
Head circumference: 47 centimeters & in the 96th percentile. ha ha ha! this makes me laugh. He's a fatty fathead. And probably a genius. Figures.

And of course, Julian is still gorgeous.

I haven't taken many pictures of him lately. But i grabbed the camera to try to snap a profile pic of his amazing hair but to no avail. "What's that, a camera??" Julian cries. "I assume you want me to pose!"

I'm pretty sure I'm teaching Julian to think I am his father. Why? Because when the days are long, I don't want him to forget Sean, so when Julian's in a babbly mood, I will often bring it up: "Say, 'da da! da da!' And today, like 3 different times when I came into view, Julian said, "da da!" hmm. Or maybe that's because Sean and I are twins, or at least that's what people say, (or that we look like siblings) which is very incestuously weird of them. If that's the case, i've never seen a prettier inbred baby.

Julian's personality

Julian's a complicated soul. Not really. But he's fun. Here's what we conjecture thus far:

He's a calm, content, mild-mannered boy. He isn't quick to cry. He never was. He does cry, sure, but who doesn't? He isn't dead inside. He can get loud. He likes to sing. He has recently discovered a bit of sassiness. Like the day he realized throwing his full weight against his high chair creates a substantial bang, and he did it repeatedly. Also, either because he's full, doesn't like it, or because he has something to prove, he'll sometimes open his mouth to take a bite of food, and staring at me intently in the eye, slowly, calmly spit it all out over his chin. He'll do this many times in a row until I stop because i aint a sucker. But i kind of am, because it's funny.

We are not a strict rigid schedule-type of people. I like to do things at fairly the same time in fairly the same order but we're flexible. If julian wants to stay out later to go get an Italian Ice or hang out at a friends' to play music, then by gum, let's do it! He doesn't mind too much. He rarely cries when he's super sleepy. He gets crazy with a wild look in his eye, or he'll moan. But he's very tolerant of all we subject him to.

He loves to laugh. He's a very laughy baby. He'll laugh because we're laughing, or by himself. He has a very unconvincing fake laugh, complete with exagerated jaw movements. I tell him only muppets laugh like that but he doesn't care.

He also loves to play games. We play them at every opportunity. Sean says sometimes he'll come home and get in his face and Baby will have this big anticipatory smile on his face, waiting for the game. I tell Sean he has to step up because the fun goes a mile a minute around here.

In conclusion, here is a video of Julian being cute. Pay special attention at 1:30 where he's singing. It is eerie, like real baby-singing. Busts me up.
