you've got the cutest little

Sean says that Julian has the face of a toddler. He has always seemed to have an "older" face than his age, whatever that means. Whatever the case, J. Rex has many facial expressions. We made this for Julian's grandmother's birthday.
Let's take a look:

I look at this picture approximately 50,000 times a day.
If i were to give them interpretive captions, starting clockwise from the top left, they might be:

1. Happy-go-lucky. And kind of nerdy, in an "aw, shucks!" kind of way.
2. So cute even when sad. No one will ever take him seriously when he truly feels sad. They'll just be like, "awwww, come here you!"
3. "shh! don't bother me. I'm talking to the angels.... because i'm one of them."
4. This face intimidates me. It makes me question my own coolness.

Wow. First and last attempt at interpretive captions. Big fat FAIL on that one. Let's move on.

A dear friend gave Julian some manly leg warmers. Here he is showing them off. Oh how i love them.

Now, every parent claims to have an extremely adorable baby, and I'm sure they do. But I have reasons why. Let's discuss his face.

Exhibit A: the dimps

I am pretty sure studies show dimples increase a baby's cuteness by 500%. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Exhibit B: the eyes.

I'm not going to lie, I was secretly hoping for a Jen clone baby. Thus, I kind of wanted brown eyes. But now that Julian's shown his face, (which looks nothing like mine, alas) I have to accept that his eyes are quite pretty & sparkly. So blue with such long lashes. (i just decided to give him glasses in the pic. It's inevitable anyway, since Sean and I have the combined eyesight of a bat. Just kidding, bats actually aren't blind. But they do have poor eyesight. <-- strong comparison, then. good hyperbole.)

Exhibit C: the second chin.

Fat babies = CUTE, always. Another law of science.

And that is why Julian is adorable. Plus, his shirt tells me so.

This next face... what does it mean? What message is he trying to convey? An amused yet worried feeling? I don't know. But i do know that i love it.

"tummy time," as they say. For Sean
and the baby. They are both so strong! Look how well they hold up their heads.

(julian is not on his tummy, here, just so you know. If he were, I would be concerned.)

I love Julian's head-to-body ratio. I think he's something like 80th percentile for weight, 95th for length, and 48th for head circumference. Ha ha. Tiny head boy. <-- what is going to happen when/if Julian is in school and gets teased? Actually, I'll tell you what. He'll take it with a thick skin because he'll have grown up with me his whole life. I tease him all the time. I'm in love with the nickname "Droolian." Sometimes i add an extra taunt: "Julian drools! Hey Droolian!" See? it's for his benefit. (Why am i planning on him being teased? ) (Also, I should mention: I tease him, but the other day i was blabbering over him and totally drooled on him! HAHA. sorry, baby. Must be genetic.)

What a great camera angle. Kind of a "baby's eye view." Except...
at the baby..... a baby looking at another baby... ok next.

And finally, because all babies should be put into some kind of suit with ears or in this case, antlers:

"this next face"? Totally a poop face.

You are so funny. I was laughing at this whole post. And that is just one cute baby. Especially while wearing leg warmers.

The last face with the red onesie says to me: "I'm pushing a poo." I've seen that look on his cousin's face! What a handsome little guy, and I can't wait to meet him the end of January! Yippee!

Must agree... the next face is a "Mom, I'm making you present. A nice smelly one."

This is Sheena from the good old monticello days and normally I am a total blog stalker all the way, but I had to suck it up and leave you a comment. Your baby totally wins the cutest baby in the world contest. He is absolutely perfect, well done Jen!

Sheena, typically I would agree with you, and immediately, but I too, have blog-stalked you and i'd have to say your kids are pretty freakishly cute. Quite cherub-esque. AND, they look like you. jealous! :)
